The Homewood Community Garden

Local Resources

  • Garden Dreams run by Mindy Schwartz sells wide variety of seedlings and organic gardening supplies. The website is under construction and so here are three pdf files to order from her. She also sells thorugh Construction Junction.
  • Construction Junction is a good source for cheap used building material and supplies that you can adapt in your garden.
  • Ackerman Tree Service (412 512-1938) in Squirrel Hill has been helping us with their woodchips that they produce when taking down trees. The only web reference I have for them so far. Consider them when thinking of tree removals and other yard services.
  • East End Brewing Company will be giving us the remnants of their brewing process to add to our compost beds. This is great stuff to jump-start our composting.
